Manchester United fan owned after ridiculous Kalvin Phillips claim amid transfer links

The news linking Kalvin Phillips with a move to Manchester United will be particularly worrying for Leeds United supporters.

There were plenty of unsubstantiated murmurs of Liverpool tracking the England midfielder over the summer following his excellent performances at Euro 2020.

Similar rumours have arisen this week with the Red Devils reported to have turned their attention to the Whites star after being unsuccessful in their short pursuit of Declan Rice, according to the Mirror.

It is understood that the Hammers man would have cost in the region of £100m and it is hard to imagine Leeds would accept much less than that, despite a £60m price tag being quoted.

There has been no secret made of Man United’s desire to sign a holding midfielder and Phillips would perfectly fit the profile of what they are looking for.

However, fans of last season’s Europa League finalists are somehow not convinced that the 25-year-old is good enough to play for them.

One supporter on social media likened Phillips to one of the midfielders that is already at Old Trafford.

That opinion certainly raised some eyebrows on Twitter with a number of people, not just Leeds fans, responding highlighting that the two players in question are totally different in playing styles and in quality.

One of those who responded hit the nail on the head.

Whilst becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of respect that Phillips so often receives, Leeds supporters will be more than happy for him to fly under the radar over the next few months.

His allegiance to his boyhood club makes a move to Man United unlikely but it would not be the first time a fan of the club has made the move to Greater Manchester from Elland Road.
