Manchester United 'failed to meet Mauricio Pochettino conditions' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim manager on Monday, but links with Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino remain.

The Argentine head coach is still the preferred candidate to take permanent charge of the Reds at the end of the season but, until May, Rangnick will be in the dugout.

Manchester Evening News reported last week that their first approach for the former Tottenham boss was knocked back by the Parisiens ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Telefoot on Monday added that in order to pry Pochettino away from the Parc des Princes, two conditions needed to be met.

The first was that United was to pay €15-20m in order to bring him to Old Trafford mid-season.

Secondly, PSG would need to first find his replacement. One of the names touted was Zinedine Zidane but, despite pushing the idea of talks with the Champions League-winning manager, interest went nowhere.

Despite the appointment of the 63-year-old, Manchester United are still interested in appointing Pochettino at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Anthony Martial is said to be wanted by Barcelona.

The Frenchman has been out of sorts for the Reds and in turn, failed to be a first-team regular under Solskjaer and Michael Carrick.

He was given a starting place in the 2-0 win over Villarreal last week but failed to make an impact as Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho netted late on after Martial was replaced.

However, according to ARA, via Manchester World, Barca representatives were said to be in Manchester over the weekend to discuss moves for Man City's Ferran Torres and the former Monaco man.
