Manchester United 'eyeing' ex-Man City star as Aaron Wan-Bissaka replacement and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are said to be tracking Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The full-back was a member of Manchester City’s youth system before leaving for Celtic in 2019. He played more than 50 games in Scotland before securing a move to Germany in January 2021.

The Netherlands Under-21 international has the ability to play at right wing, having done so eight times already this season. He has recorded five goals and two assists so far this term having netted twice and provided nine assists during the 2021/22 campaign.

Wan-Bissaka has been injured for more than six weeks but is considered a firm second choice at right-back behind Diogo Dalot, who has played every game this season. And Ten Hag is now keeping an eye on 21-year-old Frimpong, according to Sky Sport Germany.

Meanwhile, Dalot is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid. United wish to trigger the Portugal defender’s contract extension with his deal running dry next summer.

However, the Mirror report his agent has said he will not yet agree to the extension, with Barcelona and Madrid circling. They say the latter had been interested in Joao Cancelo but City have firmly shut the door on a potential exit.

They are now turning attention to Dalot, who is expected to play a prominent role for his country in Qatar during next month’s World Cup. It is thought unlikely Ten Hag would allow Dalot to leave without a suitable replacement being lined up, if at all.
