Manchester United have explained why Anthony Elanga is starting for the Red Devils at Aston Villa this evening.
This evening's Premier League fixture is the first time that the 19-year-old has started a Premier League game this season.
On Elanga, Ralf Rangnick told MUTV: "In the training sessions in the last couple of weeks, he had quite a few good ones and also when he came on in the last 15 minutes of the cup game, that's why I decided to give him the chance to play from the start."
Harry Maguire meanwhile has been placed on the bench for today's trip.
"He was out for two weeks," Rangnick told Sky Sports.
"Now he doesn't have any problems anymore, but he had problems for two weeks and I then decided to keep the two centre-backs who played in the cup game in the team.
"We have the next couple of games coming up on Wednesday and next Saturday, and today I decided to play with the same centre-backs that we played in the cup."
Marcus Rashford is also missing from this evening's squad after a lacklustre performance and the German has explained his absence on the club's website.
"He had, how you call it, a dead leg in training the day before yesterday and it got worse overnight," the interim boss explained.
"And again he couldn't train yesterday.
"I spoke with him before the training session and we were waiting until the evening to see if the treatment made it any better but it didn't, so again we decided not to take him with us.”
Meanwhile, Rangnick explained to MUTV that Aaron Wan-Bissaka does not feature due to illness that meant he could not travel.
