Manchester United example shows what Arsenal must do with Freddie Ljungberg

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has insisted that the club should not consider Freddie Ljungberg to replace Unai Emery and has cited a Manchester United example as a reason why.

The former Gunners midfielder has taken interim charge of the team whilst the hierarchy decide on their next boss after parting company with Emery last week.

With a whole list of experienced, trophy-winning managers linked with the vacancy, there is a lot of speculation about who the next boss will be.

Some sections of the media have even questioned whether Ljungberg, who is a fully qualified coach having taken charge of the club's Under-23s this term, could earn the job himself.

However, former Arsenal striker Campbell has insisted Ljungberg's lack of management experience should rule him out of the running and drew comparisons with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Freddie Ljungberg hasn't got any experience of managing," Campbell, who was speaking on behalf of GentingBet, told football.london.

"That's why Arsenal can't wait. Part of the plan at Arsenal is to make sure we qualify for the Champions League and that's not looking too good.

"I just believe a club the size of Arsenal's stature needs an experienced man. Learning on the job is great to start with and you saw what happened with Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) at Manchester United.

"But now the fans are questioning him because there has not been enough progress. Does he have the experience? No, he doesn't.

"I just think a manager with experience knows the route and the terrain. That's what I believe will be the best for Arsenal."
