Mourinho's admission about United reign
Jose Mourinho has suggested he was the master of his own downfall at Manchester United in his first press conference as Tottenham head coach.
The Portuguese was sacked by United in December and was asked if he believed he was a better manager than he was 11 months ago when he was sacked by Old Trafford hierarchy.
“I think so. You are what you are but I had time to think about many things,” Mourinho said.
“I realised that during my career, I made mistakes and I’m not going to make the same mistakes. I’m going to make new mistakes.
“I am humble. I am humble enough to try to analyse my career. Not just the last year but the problems and the solutions. The principle of my analysis was not to blame anyone else.
“I’m nobody to advise people but to have a break was very positive for me. Having the first summer where I didn’t work was not good for me. I was a bit lost. But it was good for me. I even learned how to be a pundit.”
Matic a 'target' for Atletico Madrid
Nemanja Matic is open to a move away from Old Trafford in January over a lack of playing time ( full story here ) and the latest reports suggest he is a target for Atletico Madrid.
Atletico have now emerged as a club who are interested in signing the midfielder, ESPN report, and his eligibility to play in the Champions League, having only played in the Europa League this season, is regarded as a key factor.
Rashford on Solskjaer and United's top four pursuit
Marcus Rashford has come out and given his backing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Reports returned yesterday that United could be interested in appointing Pochettino after he was sacked by Tottenham but MEN Sport understands there is no plan to do so.
And the England international has also explained what would constitute a successful season for the club.
Callum Wilson on United links
Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson has responded to transfer rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted the club would be exploring their options in the winter window and wants another forward.
Wilson has been linked and told versus.uk.com what he made of the speculation: “I usually find out by people reading stuff and coming up to me!
“I’m just kind of like ‘you know as much as me’. I don’t really listen to it. I don’t read papers and I don’t read Twitter feeds about transfer rumours. I tend to just focus on myself."
