Good evening, Manchester United fans. Here are your evening headlines for Friday, November 13.
United’s Ronaldo stance revealed
Manchester United are not interested in re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo, MEN Sport understands .
The 35-year-old has this week been linked with a surprise return to Old Trafford amid doubts over his future at Juventus.
But United sources have dismissed claims that the club are set to make a move for Ronaldo next summer.
The Portugal international is contracted at Juventus until 2022, though there have been claims that the Serie A champions intend to cut their hefty wage bill following the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Ronaldo spent six years as a United player between 2003 and 2009, blossoming into one of the world's finest players and winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the World Club Cup, and the FA Cup.
Rashford sends message to teammates after injury
Marcus Rashford has taken to social media to back his international teammates after withdrawing from the England squad due to injury.
The 23-year-old was forced to pull out of Gareth Southgate’s contingent, missing Thursday night’s 3-0 friendly win over the Republic of Ireland.
It is not yet clear how long Rashford is expected to be sidelined, but he seemed in good spirits on Twitter.
“I'll be back. Good luck boys,” the Manchester United forward wrote.
Rashford has returned to United to focus on his recovery ahead of the Premier League's return in a little over a week.
Fernandes on the advice he ignored from former coach
Bruno Fernandes has revealed he was told by a former coach to pursue a career as a centre-back.
The Portugal international is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, excelling since his arrival at Manchester United in January.
But things might have gone differently had Fernandes followed the advice of one of his youth coaches .
“I played central defender for the most part, when I started playing football, either central defence or right-back,” Fernandes told the UTD podcast .
“I liked to play as a right-back because I was aggressive at the time, I was that guy who wanted to give tackles and everything. As a central defender, I was the free one, being prepared to follow the wingers if the right-back wasn’t there and all that.
“I was really good, I had a coach who said to me, ‘If you want to be a top player, you will need to play as a central defender. If you want to be a good player, you will be a midfielder’.
“I think he was wrong but, maybe as a central defender, I could be much better, I don’t know!”
