Manchester United evening headlines as Solskjaer talks Grealish and Ake

Solskjaer sends Grealish warning

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent his players a warning over the abilities of Aston Villa star and Reds' transfer target, Jack Grealish ahead of his team’s trip to Villa Park.

Grealish scored a fantastic curling goal against United earlier this season at Old Trafford, something Solskjaer highlighted in his pre-match press conference.

“I think the last game obviously they caused us some problems, both Grealish off left and El Ghazi off the right. He scored a fantastic goal,” the United boss said.

“There’s been lots said and talked about him and we need to be aware of him. Whoever is close to him, if he’s off the left, in the middle, on the right. What he does is attracts players to him and create space for others, so there’s not just one player in that Villa team. There’s many of them.”

United could break Premier League record against Villa

If Manchester United beat Aston Villa by three or more goals on Thursday night, they will become the first-ever Premier League team to win four consecutive domestic matches by that margin.

Solskjaer’s side started their scoring frenzy with a 3-0 win over Sheffield United, and then won by the same scoreline at the Amex Stadium to beat Brighton last week.

A thrilling 5-2 victory against struggling Bournemouth has now given United the chance to break this incredible Premier League record.

United are also unbeaten in their last 20 away Premier League encounters against Villa – stretching back to a 3-1 loss on the opening day of the 1995/96 season.

Solskjaer addresses Ake transfer 'chat'

Solskjaer has denied that he spoke to Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake over a possible summer transfer after last weekend’s 5-2 win.

The Norwegian boss approached the Dutch centre-back after the game and clearly had a conversation with Ake.

The BT Sport caption read: “You need a bit of luck from your centre-backs. Just keep going.” But many felt the United boss said: “We need a left-footed centre-back, so keep going.”

However, Solskjaer has laughed this off: “I’ve got seven centre-backs. I don’t know where that’s come from. We’re fine.”
