Manchester United evening headlines as Neymar sends warning, David de Gea injury update

Here are the Manchester United evening headlines for Sunday, November 29.

United deliver de Gea update after win vs Southampton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful first-choice Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Spanish shot-stopper hobbled off during the Reds' 3-2 win against Southampton on Sunday and was replaced by Dean Henderson, who went on to keep a clean sheet.

"A knock just above the knee, hopefully, he’ll be OK for Wednesday," Solskjaer told MUTV when asked about de Gea 's fitness.

"Dean came on and was very assured."

Solskjaer compares Cavani to Lukaku after match-winning brace

United have finally replaced Romelu Lukaku with the signing of Edinson Cavani, according to Solskjaer.

Cavani, 33, moved to Old Trafford this summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after a success-laden seven years in Ligue 1.

The Uruguayan's arrival was met with excitement among supporters and he produced an inspirational performance against Southampton on Sunday, scoring twice and assisting once during the 3-2 win.

It led Solskjaer to admit that he felt the club had finally filled the void left by Lukaku’s departure to Inter Milan.

"He’s got all the attributes of a top-class footballer and a human being," Solskjaer said. "He’s had a great career, scored goals wherever, he's meticulous with preparation and recovery, meal times, before and in the match. I was surprised he didn't have his boots ready when the second-half started!

"We know he is one of the cleverest and best movers in the box. He certainly had an impact today. We are not the same types of players.

"He reminds me of Andy (Cole): movement in the box, great timing. He’s not learned off me. I was ready when the game started with boots, the right studs. He made us wait a little bit too long for my liking!

"To have a focal point in the box… we've not really had that since Romelu left. It gives us a great balance and a mix. We wanted to mix it up and he had a great impact.

"Edinson has been around the block, been between both posts, he's seen this game before, that cross before. And his best friend in the box is - as Sir Alex [Ferguson] used to say - space. And he gets into that space with perfect timing."

Neymar sends warning ahead of United clash

Neymar admits Paris Saint-Germain must improve if they are to beat Manchester United this week in the Champions League.

The Reds were 2-1 winners the last time the two sides met in the group stage, and while United produced an impressive 3-2 comeback against Southampton this weekend, PSG struggled to a 2-2 draw against Bordeaux.

"We played a timid game," Neymar said on Saturday. "We managed to score goals but we missed some details.

"Whether in the league or in the Champions League, we have to do better. Usually we win more matches. If we do not manage to do that it will be complicated in the league as in the Champions League.

"We know the importance of Wednesday’s match [vs Manchester United], like the match against Leipzig, where we didn’t play well even though we won.

"On Wednesday, we will try to play our best game, to play well but we have to improve, play more as a team and be better organised otherwise it will be very difficult."
