Manchester United evening headlines as Michael Owen makes Jack Grealish claim

Here are your Manchester United headlines for the evening of Tuesday July 28.

Former Manchester United striker makes Grealish transfer claim

Michael Owen claims Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish "has his heart set" on signing for Manchester United this summer.

Grealish has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford this season and with Villa safe from relegation speculation is only likely to intensify further. Owen believes the midfielder wants a move to the Reds.

“I think he’s after Manchester United as well,” Owen told Premier League Productions. “I’m told he has his heart set on Manchester United. I’d be surprised if he went anywhere else.”

Owen added: “He’ll be more expensive now to possible suitors. There is that tie now that it’s his team and they’re still in the Premier League.”

Sporting set for transfer windfall due to United’s top four finish

Manchester United will now have to make an additional transfer payment to Sporting after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side qualified for next season’s Champions League.

The Old Trafford outfit secured a third place finish in the Premier League table after Sunday’s 2-0 away win over Leicester City, with Champions League qualification meaning United will have to stump up.

Sporting are now due £4.2million as part of the deal that took Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United in the January transfer window.

United paid an upfront fee of £46.5m for the Portuguese midfielder in January, but additional add-ons could take the total fee to £67.3m. Fernandes’ arrival proved to be the catalyst for Solskjaer and his players as they turned around their season.

Images of new Manchester United 2020/21 home kit leaked

Manchester United fans now have a better idea of what their team will be wearing next season after images of the club’s new home kit for the 2020/21 season were leaked.

FootyHeadlines published the pictures, confirming leaks of a similar designed that appeared online as early as March.

Adidas have seemingly produced a patterned red shirt with trademark white stripes on the shoulders. The reports states that United will unveil the new kit before the club’s Europa League last 16 second leg against LASK on August 5.
