Sancho admits ‘hard situation’ after failed United transfer
Jadon Sancho has admitted this season has been “hard” after his proposed summer move to Manchester United failed to materialise.
The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford, but Borussia Dortmund’s £108m price tag proved too high.
And Sancho has since struggled for form, scoring for only the third time this term in a 3-0 Champions League win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night.
“I am just happy that I am playing,” Sancho told DAZN. “I have coaches and teammates that believe in me. Recently, it's been a hard situation for me. But it's all about how I come back and have performances like this [against Brugge]. They will hopefully get me back to the top, how I was playing before.”
Rafael offers words of encouragement to Solskjaer after Champions League clash
Former Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to “keep fighting” after his Istanbul Baseksehir side fell to a 4-1 loss at Old Trafford last night.
The Brazilian full-back could do nothing to stop his side succumbing to defeat in their Champions League clash with United, a result that eased some of the pressure on Solskjaer.
And Rafael took to social media after the game to back Solskjaer.
“Just hope the best for you and Manchester United, keep fighting my friend like you are doing,” he wrote on Twitter. “All the best Man United, thank you for the warm welcome before and after the game. Love you all.”
Van de Beek could be the solution to United problem
Donny van de Beek’s performance against Istanbul Baseksehir on Tuesday night suggested he could be the solution to one of Manchester United’s most pressing issues.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have struggled to break down packed defences throughout the season, but the Dutchman’s quick, one-touch passing led to swift, incisive attacking play in the 4-1 win at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek’s positional awareness also allowed the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial to thrive in the final third.
On what was just his fifth start for United, the former Ajax midfielder provided a glimpse of what he could bring to the team in the coming weeks.
