Manchester United evening headlines as Jack Grealish has 'no doubts' and Saul Niguez causes a stir

Here are the Manchester United headlines on the evening of Wednesday, June 3.

Grealish not surprised by Premier League success amid United speculation

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has admitted that he has not been surprised by the level of success he has enjoyed in the Premier League this season.

Grealish is one of United's priority targets this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add a playmaker to his squad and the 24-year-old has assessed his performances this season.

“My season has been very good, though I probably didn’t start as I wanted to,” Grealish explained in an interview given to the Guardian.

“I got an assist in the second game but apart from that I don’t think I got a goal or an assist for six weeks and that’s what I base my game on, what I do to help the team since then I have just thrived and enjoyed every single moment. Without sounding arrogant or big-headed I had no doubts I would come into this league and perform the way I have done.”

Ighalo reveals how Pogba is training after return from injury

Odion Ighalo is back in training with Manchester United after his loan stay from Shanghai Shenhua was extended and the striker has revealed how Paul Pogba, another player back in the fold, has fared.

The French midfielder has missed much of the 2019/20 season through injury, but is now ready to feature for United again after the resumption of the Premier League following the coronavirus shutdown.

“Everybody is looking good,” Ighalo told Manchester United’s official site. “Running, working hard and playing football. Little two-a-sides and doing some ball work. Everyone is getting better and better.

“Everyone is back, even Paul is back training normally and Rashy is back training as normal. Everyone is training normally and training full and all that, so the squad is full and everyone is ready, I think.”

Saul Niguez ends United fans’ excitement over ‘new club’ tease

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has ended excitement among Manchester United supporters that he could be about to sign for the Reds after teasing that he would announce his ‘new club.’

Saul posted to social media on Sunday that he would reveal his ‘new club’ on Wednesday June 3, causing speculation that he could sign for United, but the midfielder instead announced that he and his brother Aaron have created a new football team called Club Costa City, based in Elche.

The new club will bring together more than 30 teams and more than 500 players of age groups and will start play next season.
