Here are the latest Manchester United evening headlines for Tuesday August 18.
Borussia Dortmund manager makes Jadon Sancho plea
Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre has reiterated his desire to keep Jadon Sancho at the club.
Sancho has been the subject of heavy speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United. So far the two teams have been unable to agree a deal for the talented winger.
Sporting director Michael Zorc initially placed a deadline on any negotiations, and Favre has backed that up with fresh claims he is eager for Sancho to remain part of his squad.
"It is important that he stays with us," the BVB head coach told German publication Der Westen. "That is of course also important for the team.
"Jadon Sancho is of course a very good player but he must also have in mind that he still has a lot to learn. He needs to have better control of the ball, to do more headed flick-ons and to improve his defending.
"He can’t just stop running and stand still for 10 minutes and then suddenly do something for the next 10 minutes. This applies to everyone else as well."
Henderson talks continues as doubts surround Sergio Romero’s future
Manchester United are continuing to negotiate a new deal with Dean Henderson, but have not ruled out Sergio Romero’s departure.
The MEN understands the club are eager to extend Henderson’s deal amid reported interest from Chelsea. It has been claimed the Blues are keen to offer the 23-year-old £170,000-a-week to move to Stamford Bridge.
Romero, 33, is not against the idea of leaving Old Trafford with his agents sounding out potential suitors for his services. It is said the player’s camp was not impressed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to recall David de Gea for the Europa League semi-final with Sevilla.
United midfielder planning loan move
James Garner is ready to leave Manchester United on loan.
The MEN understands Garner’s camp have set aside time to arrange a season-long loan deal now he has returned to Manchester.
The teenager made three starts and three substitute appearances last season, and was also part of several Premier League squads. There had been talks about a mid-season loan move that came to nothing, with the midfielder now ready to leave the club for playing time.
"I think I'd probably be the same if I was 18 or 19 and not getting in the first-team," Nicky Butt told the MEN. "I'd want to go and play men's football as well.
"Because you do come to a point in the reserves where you bypass that and it does become too easy for you, and it becomes a bit lethargic and you also want to push the younger ones up.
"But then also the flip-side of it is you don't want to dive into the wrong loan spell or wrong club and end up thinking, 'I've made a complete error here, I'm going to lose six months, I'm going to lose a year of my football, I'm at the wrong club'.
"So you've got to be very careful."
