Manchester United evening headlines as Bailly clarifies injury report and match selected for PPV

Sky Sports confirms Man Utd game will be one of first on pay-per-view

Sky Sports and BT Sport have confirmed a number of Premier League games will be shown via pay-per-view platforms, and Manchester United against Newcastle United will be one of the first .

The pay-per-view games will cost £14.95 each, with all money going towards top-flight clubs to help them make up for lost matchday revenue.

Sky and BT will still be broadcasting several games per month for subscribers, but the pay-per-view screenings will be outside the TV allocation and provide fans with a legal way to watch their team in action while stadiums remain closed to fans.

The five games being broadcast on pay-per-view platforms immediately after the international break are Chelsea v Southampton (BT Sport Box Office), Newcastle United v Manchester United (Sky Sports Box Office), Sheffield United v Fulham (BT Sport Box Office), Leicester City v Aston Villa (Sky Sports Box Office) and West Bromwich Albion v Burnley (Sky Sports Box Office).

Eric Bailly addresses injury concerns after international appearance

United fans were greeted with a worrying image during the international break, as Eric Bailly looked to have picked up an injury while playing for Cote d’Ivoire.

The centre-back had made his first league start of the season in United’s 6-1 defeat to Tottenham, but left the field early in his country’s 1-1 draw against Belgium on Thursday with what some reported as a hamstring injury.

Bailly, however, has moved to clarify the situation , explaining in an Instagram post that things were less serious than first thought.

“Thank you for worrying about me, but I’m doing well,” Bailly wrote.

“Just fatigue. Goodnight to you all and God protect us. Congratulations to my team for the match against the first ranked team.”

Out-of-favour United pair set to be given fresh chance by Solskjaer

United’s transfer deadline day was dominated by the club’s failure to sign a senior right winger, with a move for Jadon Sancho failing to materialise and a loan bid for Ismaila Sarr knocked back by Watford.

However, the situation may end up opening doors for two men whose Manchester United futures looked in doubt not too long ago.

Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both looked set for an exit earlier this year, with their minutes limited following the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s persistence with Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in the wide forward roles.

However, the start of the new campaign has brought the pair new opportunities, and - despite reported interest in Lingard from Porto - both now appear to be taking their chance to return to the fold.

MEN Sport has taken a closer look at how the situation has changed for the pair, who may have a bigger role to play this season than anticipated.
