Manchester United Europa League final: Everything you need to know

Manchester United's pursuit of European glory has put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side just one-step away from victory.

After overcoming Roma in the double-headed semi-final, United are now due to face Villarreal later this month in the showcase final.

United, four years after Jose Mourinho's side defeated Ajax to lift the trophy, are touted as the favourites to secure success once again.

Fans can now look ahead to the huge occasion, which could cap off a successful season with the club on the brink of securing a top-four finish and Champions League football next season.

Here, we have identified all the key points you need to know.

When is it?

The Europa League final will take place on Wednesday, May 26th with kick-off set for 20:00 BST - taking place three days before the Champions League final and just over two weeks before the European Championship kicks off.

Where is it?

The 2021 Europa League final will take place at the Stadion Miejski in Gdansk, Poland - with UEFA pushing the schedule back after last season's competition was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Gdansk was originally due to hold last season's final, where Sevilla beat Inter Milan, before the closing stages of both UEFA competitions were moved to Portugal amid the pandemic.

This year's final was originally due to be played in Seville but the scheduling has now been pushed back 12 months.

Who will United face?

United will face off against Spanish outfit Villarreal, who prevented an all-English affair in the Europa League final after knocking Arsenal out with a 2-1 victory on aggregate.

The club are led by former Gunners boss Unai Emery, who won the trophy three times with Sevilla and is looking to become the most successful manager ever in the competition.

How can I get tickets?

Applications for tickets are open until Friday, May 7th. However, with restrictions still in place due to the coronavirus situation, each side competing in the final will only get 2,000 tickets.

The window will close at 13:00 BST.
