Manchester United draw Wolves in FA Cup third round

Manchester United have been drawn to face Wolves away in the third round of the FA Cup, in a repeat of last year's quarter-final.

The third round will take place on the weekend of Saturday 4 January, with fixtures taking place between the 3rd and the 6th. A further announcement on televised fixtures will be made in the coming weeks.

United's FA Cup tie will be sandwiched between facing Arsenal in the Premier League on New Year's Day and then hosting Norwich in the league the following weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have entered the competition at this stage along with the rest of the clubs from the Premier League and the Championship.

Solskjaer will be looking to build upon last season's run in the FA Cup which saw them beaten in the quarter-finals by Wolves.

Although they have struggled for form in the league this season United have been better in cup competitions; securing a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup as well as passage from their Europa League group.

All of the FA Cup third round games will kick off one minute later than usual as part of the mental health campaign Heads Up.

The Football Association announced the one minute delay to every game is to encourage fans to 'take a minute' to think about looking after their mental health.

All 32 ties, excluding replays, will kick off one minute later than their traditionally scheduled broadcast and non-broadcast time slots and it is hoped the initiative will raise awareness of the importance of looking after mental health.

“Whilst delaying kick-off times by 60 seconds is a simple idea, it provides a powerful platform for us and our Heads Up charity partners to deliver a really important message on mental health," Mark Bullingham the FA's chief executive said.

"We know that men in particular can be reluctant to talk about the subject, so it is important that we use football as a vehicle to stress the importance of mental fitness.”
