Manchester United 'discover new transfer target' while checking on Chris Smalling and more rumours

Manchester United have compiled a report on young Atalanta forward Dejan Kulusevski after he caught the eye of a scout watching Chris Smalling, reports in Italy claim.

United sent a representative to watch loanee Smalling at Roma in their 2-0 defeat to Parma, but Corriere della Sera say the scout was impressed by 19-year-old Kulusevski, who is on loan at Parma from Atalanta.

The Swedish U21 international has two goals and five assists in 12 games this season, and can play on the right wing, up front or in midfield. The report adds Inter Milan are monitoring his situation and believe he could be available in January.

Wolves and Southampton are also linked with Kulusevski, who would cost around £21m, the report adds.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the need for attacking reinforcements in January, and favours young talent to develop at Old Trafford. United will now reportedly monitor his progress ahead of the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, United youngster Tahith Chong has reportedly decided he won’t be renewing his contract at Old Trafford, amid links to Juventus.

The Dutch youngster is 19 and sees his contract expire at the end of the season, with the Italian media outlet Calciomercato reporting that Chong is ready to quit United.

He’s not been part of the first team squad in recent weeks, despite being a regular on the bench earlier in the campaign.

Finally, United are set to battle Barcelona for £26m-rated Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports from France.

Camavinga, who turned 17 at the weekend, has played in every Ligue 1 game so far this season and is attracting attention from a lot of top clubs including United, L’Equipe claim.

The report claims United are tracking the highliy-rated teenager, who has also impressed in the Europa League, and Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested.
