Manchester United may have to fork out more than £100million if they want to sign Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January, according to reports.
The Argentina star, currently on World Cup duty in Qatar for his country, has reportedly been monitored by United for some time as Erik ten Hag looks to press on with his rebuild of the Old Trafford outfit's playing squad. The 21-year-old only joined Portuguese side Benfica in the summer in what now looks like a bargain £10million fee following his exploits for his country.
And now reports coming out of Portuguese outlets A Bola, Jornal de Notícias and Record [via The Mirror] suggest his club are 'in no mood to cash in on their star midfielder just months after signing him.' It means that anyone hoping to prise Fernandez out of Lisbon will need to cough up the full amount of the release clause that's been inserted into his five-year contract - which stands at a whopping £103m (€120m).

Elsewhere, Calcio Mercato claim that the Reds are 'in first place' to land the signing of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech in January. The Moroccan is expected to leave Stamford Bridge, where he has fallen down the pecking order, and he could be available for a cut-price fee.
The report adds that while Italian giants AC Milan are interested in signing the creative playmaker, they expect United to compete with them for the player's signature should they make their move. It is claimed that Erik ten Hag's side have 'knocked on Chelsea's door' and asked about Ziyech's availability in recent weeks.
The winger could be on the move as early as January and it is claimed that United could be in the frame to sign him.
