Manchester United have confirmed Diego Leon’s shirt number ahead of a potential debut for the summer signing.
The Paraguayan left-back’s move to Old Trafford was made official at the beginning of the month after a deal was agreed with Primera Division side Cerro Porteno earlier this year.
United’s deal for the 18-year-old could reportedly be worth a total of £7million including add-ons, with a fee of approximately £3.3m paid up front.
Leon has signed a long-term contract at Old Trafford and has been handed the No30 shirt ahead of the new season.
This particular shirt number has kept a low profile at Man United over the years. In fact, it has been vacant ever since the end of the 2022/23 campaign when young back-up goalkeeper left for Sunderland.
During the Premier League era Matteo Darmian, Guillermo Varela, Ritchie De Laet, Lee Martin, John O’Shea and Wes Brown have donned the No30 for the Red Devils, therefore it’s safe to say the shirt number does not come with added pressure.
Supporters may get to see Leon wear the No30 as early as the weekend as the club appeared to suggest in their statement to announce the summer signing will be in line to make his United debut in the pre-season friendly against rivals Leeds on Saturday.

“Summer signing Diego Leon has been allocated his first shirt number at Manchester United,” the club said.
“The Paraguayan wing-back will wear the no.30 after arriving from Cerro Porteno and helping bolster head coach Ruben Amorim's options in the position.
“Reds fans may get a first chance to see our South American import in action during the pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Sweden.”
Leon wore No37 for two seasons at previous club Cerro Porteno and wears No4 for Paraguay's Under-20 national team.
