It was a defensive shambles from Manchester United as City ran ragged in the derby to put pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
An own goal from Eric Bailly and a brilliant finish from Bernardo Silva saw City go 2-0 up at half-time, and it could've been worse had David de Gea not been in goal.
The Spaniard made some wonderful saves throughout the initial 45 minutes but was at fault for the second goal as he failed to react quick enough to the ball going past him in the net.
As the second half began, Solskjaer took off Eric Bailly for Jadon Sancho, which meant it was an end to the initial back three that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lined up with at the start.
In United's last three matches, The Norwegian has used a 3-5-2 system because the team are conceding way too many goals. But still, it seems as if the defence is still playing poorly and as a result, they can't stop letting in goals into their own net.
The three centre-backs that started the game were Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw were just as dreadful as them.
Let's start with the back three. Eric Bailly was all over the place. Although the Ivory Coast defender won two successful tackles, he scored an own goal and positionally, he was all over the place. Like most of United's players, there was a lack of composure when he was on the ball. The result? He only had a 79% pass accuracy and a rating of 5.4.
Victor Lindelof is usually good with his forward passes that cut open defensive lines, but he didn't look confident at all in the game. Where the Swede lacks is his aerial presence and he only won one duel due to this. When you consider City don't even have a true number nine, it's not a good look at all.

Then there's the captain, Harry Maguire. He's been heavily criticised in recent weeks for his poor performances at the back for United and hasn't looked himself since returning from Euro 2020 in the summer. He was the left-sided defender out of the three and it's safe to say that he's nowhere near the levels he showed last season. He had a golden opportunity to score in the first half, but he put the header wide of the post.
Perhaps the most surprising is Luke Shaw. Do you remember what he was like for United last season? What about his performances for England at Euro 2020? He literally scored in the final!
United's left-back has been a shadow of the player he was when United finished second. He was pivotal down the left-hand channel and added much more width in the offensive zones. But this season, he's rarely bombed forward and got nowhere near the number of goals and assists he would've hoped for. Just think about what Ben Chilwell and Reece James are doing under Thomas Tuchel. They already have seven league goals and two assists between them this season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka had one of his worst games since he signed for United in the summer of 2019. In the first half, he was caught out of position on so many occasions and consequently, Phil Foden and Joao Cancelo had an absolute field-day down the left-hand channel. There was a moment in the second half where the right-back had so much time on the ball but got caught in possession, which summarised his performance on the day.
It's an issue I don't see how United solve other than trying to put the extra work in on the training ground. But the problem is that it feels like we've been here before this season. Another loss is due to individual errors. Once again, United concede at home. At the moment, you're asking yourself 'when is it ever going to end?'
Ultimately, it's going to cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's job. United have been leaking way too many goals and I can't see him turning this around anymore.
