Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof given heart monitor after substitution vs Norwich

Victor Lindelof's wife has said the Manchester United defender is wearing a heart monitor following his sudden withdrawal in Saturday's win at Norwich.

Lindelof appeared to struggle to breathe and had to be replaced by Eric Bailly in the 74th minute at Carrow Road. The United manager Ralf Rangnick said Lindelof's heart rate was higher than normal and the Swede was 'a little bit shocked'.

Rangnick added Lindelof appeared to be okay after he was examined by the club's medical staff and the 27-year-old underwent further tests on Sunday.

Lindelof's wife, Maja, wrote that her husband has been fitted with a heart monitor while United's first-team operations at their Carrington training complex are closed following an outbreak of Covid-19 among players and staff. In her blog post, she confirmed both are vaccinated.

"It was a scary match to watch and Victor was very concerned afterwards," Ms Nilsson Lindelof wrote on her blog. "Yesterday he did a lot of tests and has a heart monitor on for two days to make sure everything is OK."

She added: "Everything seems to be okay as luck would have it and we are waiting for answers to the last tests that will end tomorrow."

At Norwich, Rangnick said: "He can't even remember himself how it happened. I think he had a collision with another player and he had problems to breathe for more than 10 minutes. His heart rate was higher than normal and he was a little bit shocked, he didn't know how to deal with it. We had to replace him.

"After the game, we did some check-ups and some examinations by the doctor, it seems everything is okay. We still have to see how he is doing tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be fit for the game against Brentford."
