Manchester United defender Luke Shaw wants Premier League decision that would deny Liverpool title

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has called for the Premier League season to be scrapped if it cannot be finished properly - leaving Liverpool without their first title in 30 years.

The Reds are a record 25 points clear at the summit and need to win only two of their remaining nine games to clinch the championship.

The Premier League has been suspended since March 13 due to the coronavirus outbreak, with action on hold indefinitely having initially been slated to resume after April 30.

Top-flight clubs have committed to completing the current campaign when it is safe to do so, with a number of options being considered to conclude the season over the summer after UEFA paved the way for domestic leagues to be finished.

Some leagues, such as in Belgium, have already opted to end their season and hand the title to their league leaders.

But when asked if Liverpool should be awarded the title or whether the season should be scrapped, Shaw said during a Combat Corona Twitch FIFA competition: "Scrap it and start again.

"Start it again, yeah. It’s gotta be you know. If we can’t carry it on it’s got to be void."

United, without a title in seven years, are 37 points behind Liverpool in fifth place and could miss out on Champions League qualification for the second year in succession.
