Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot makes Cristiano Ronaldo claim

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo is 'different from the others' and believes his fellow Portuguese should be held up as an example long after he retires.

Ronaldo claimed the 31st trophy of his career earlier last month as Portugal won the Nations League.

And Dalot is a huge fan of the 34-year-old, who has been one of the best players in the world for the best part of 15 years.

Speaking in an interview with Talent Ain't Enough, Dalot said: "I always put Cristiano at the top level, for his work, for his mentality, I think it's something that we should always look forward and see as an example even when he's stopped playing football - because he's different from the others. He's different for a reason, he's won everything for a reason.

"The guys that have different mentality than the others, that's the difference."

Dalot is currently preparing for his second season in England and it is one he is looking forward to after settling in well last term.

"It's been a tough challenge moving to England," Dalot added. "When you think about football and top football, you think about the Premier League.

"It was good for me because I always dreamed about playing in this country, in this league, in this club. For me it's been a great journey and you need to be the best athlete that you can be."

Dalot is currently in Australia with the rest of United's squad and their first pre-season tour training session took place overnight.
