Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe provides fresh injury update

Axel Tuanzebe said his injury rehabilitation is going well but refused to put a timescale on his return to action.

Tuanzebe has encouraged when he has been available this season but his campaign has been largely ravaged by injuries.

He is in Marbella for a warm weather training camp with the rest of the United squad this week as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares his players for the season run-in.

"My training has been very good for the last couple of weeks," Tuanzebe said to the club website. "My physio, John Davin, has helped me a lot with my progression and tried to really optimise the time I've had to recover.

"It's been going really good, I'm a lot stronger now and soon to be back on the pitch with the lads again.”

He added: “I couldn't really put a timeframe on it (return from injury), but yeah very soon. The training today went well and I just want to keep that vibe, that mentality and that work ethic.

"Scott and Tim are always great to train with, we always push each other, so we are putting in the hard work to get back as soon as possible.”

Tuanzebe hopes to be involved in the final three months of the season as United chase two trophies and also compete for a top-four finish.

“This season has been a bit frustrating," he said. "There have been many opportunities that I could have exploited but it wasn't to be. Last season I played a lot of games on loan at Villa and I wanted to replicate that this season. There are still three competitions left that we can go for. I want to be heavily involved in that, help the side to win trophies and get into those Champions League places.”
