Manchester United 'dealt defensive transfer blow' and more transfer rumours

The Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, does not want to see Sergio Ramos leave the club this summer, according to reports.

Ramos, 33, has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu this summer after 14 years at the club.

Real finished third in La Liga last season after a turbulent campaign that saw two managers sacked.

Zidane, who led Real to three consecutive Champions League titles, was reappointed in March, though results improved little.

Marca claim that Zidane considers Ramos a key component of his Real rebuild and will not allow the Spain international to leave this summer, with Manchester United one of several clubs linked with a move.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain claim that United are interested in the Real Betis midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentine's loan deal at Betis has been made permanent this summer but the La Liga side's failure to qualify for European competition next season has left the 23-year-old looking for a move away.

Tottenham have had a £52 million bid rejected, while Atlético Madrid are also said to be interested. It is the MEN's understanding that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will keep a close eye on the midfielder's showing at this summer's Copa America.

Marca claim that United would have to part with €100m (£88m) to win the race for Lo Celso.

In other news, France Football claim that speculation linking United with the Paris Saint-Germain forward, Edinson Cavani, is baseless as the Uruguay international is intent on playing in the Champions League next season.
