In a thrilling third round clash, Manchester United emerged victorious with a comfortable 2-0 win over third-tier side Wigan. This result ensured that United avoided becoming the highest-profile casualty of the FA Cup this season. Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, both Portugal internationals, found the back of the net to secure United's passage to the last 32 of the competition. Their next opponents will be determined through a match between Newport County and Eastleigh, two more lower-league teams.

Despite facing significant pressure on manager Erik ten Hag following a string of recent losses, Manchester United showcased their dominance in this encounter. The team, which reached the FA Cup final last season but fell short against Manchester City, produced an impressive display against Wigan, a team that once graced the Premier League back in 2013. That year, Wigan emerged as Cup winners, stunning fans and pundits alike by defeating mighty Manchester City in the final, creating one of the competition's biggest shocks.

It was Dalot who broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute with a magnificent curling effort from the edge of the area, expertly finding the far corner. Wigan's hopes of a comeback were dashed further when Bruno Fernandes confidently converted a penalty in the 74th minute, after being tripped by Liam Shaw.

While there haven't been any major upsets so far in the third round, some Premier League teams did struggle against lower-division opponents. West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Luton were all held to draws at home. However, they still have the opportunity to prove their worth in the subsequent round.

Looking ahead to the fourth round draw, one fixture stands out as the standout match - Manchester City vs. Tottenham. This exciting encounter is sure to captivate fans around the world. Additionally, there are three other guaranteed all-Premier League clashes to look forward to: Chelsea vs. Aston Villa, Fulham vs. Newcastle, and Sheffield United vs. Brighton.

In an intriguing twist, Wrexham, a fourth-tier Welsh club, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will face the challenge of a trip to second-tier Blackburn.

The complete fourth-round draw offers an exciting mix of matchups, with Watford taking on Southampton, Bournemouth hosting Swansea, and West Bromwich Albion facing the winner of the Brentford vs. Wolverhampton clash. Other enticing fixtures include Leeds vs. Plymouth Argyle, Liverpool vs. Norwich or Bristol Rovers, and Crystal Palace or Everton vs. Luton or Bolton.

With such intriguing matchups awaiting us, the FA Cup continues to excite and surprise football fans worldwide. The magic of this historic competition is well and truly alive. Stay tuned for more thrilling action and unforgettable moments as the journey to Cup glory unfolds!
