There are question marks over the fitness of several Manchester United players going into this weekend's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly only returned to United training on Monday, while Bruno Fernandes began his work at the Aon Training Complex over the weekend. Phil Jones is also back in training, but unlikely to be picked for United's season opener at Old Trafford in any case.
Mason Greenwood has been training alone after returning to the United Kingdom, having broken Covid-19 protocols while on England duty in Iceland. Axel Tuanzebe is the only confirmed absentee for United, as he continues his rehabilitation from a long-term injury. Sergio Romero has not yet linked up with the United squad at Carrington.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not pick any of the aforementioned players for United's pre-season friendly against Aston Villa last weekend, as a weakened Reds side lost 1-0.
United were given special dispensation by the Premier League to begin their season a week late, with their opening day fixture against Burnley postponed. That was after United took part in the latter stages of the Europa League, losing in the semi-final to Sevilla, and were due at least a 30-day gap between seasons.
Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford appear the only dead certs to start for United against Palace, having all played against Villa. New signing Donny van de Beek is in contention after he impressed at Villa Park, though there could be fierce competition in midfield if Pogba and Fernandes are deemed match ready.
Solskjaer has a big decision to make in goal with Dean Henderson rivalling David de Gea for the first choice role. Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial will be assessed after both went on international duty with Sweden and France respectively.
Brandon Williams, Daniel James, Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingard are also among those vying for a start against Palace.
