Manchester United could be set to make another £50m signing, Leeds United close in on winger - Championship rumours

Championship clubs are busy completing transfers as most sides return for pre-season.

Owners and executives have been busy in the background getting deals over the line as clubs in the second tier begin to assemble their squads for the 2019-20 season.

Whether they are preparing for a title at promotion to the Premier League or battling to avoid the drop to League One, preparations are well underway.

Here's all the latest transfer news and rumours from around the Championship...

McGinn's mighty price

Manchester United are reportedly set to bid for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn - but he will cost £50 million.

The Scotland international enjoyed a standout season at Villa Park that culminated in a goalscoring performance in May's 2-1 play-off final defeat of Derby County.

According to The Sun, Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's side have made enquiries on the former Hibernian man's availability but Villa will demand a £50m fee; exactly the same figure United paid Crystal Palace last week for Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Dean Smith's side will reportedly convince McGinn to resist United's overtures by signing him up to a new and improved long-term contract.

Costa on his way to Leeds

Leeds United are set to complete a move for Helder Costa.

The Telegraph report the Wolves winger has said his goodbyes to Molineux team-mates ahead of a season-long move to Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer, with Jack Clarke heading to Tottenham Hotspur and Kalvin Phillips a reported target for Aston Villa.

Cottagers want Chalobah

Fulham have reportedly entered the chase for West Bromwich Albion target Trevoh Chalobah.

Chalobah impressed with relegated Ipswich Town last season, with Football Insider suggesting the Baggies could face competition from relegated Fulham for his services.

But Chalobah's availability could hinge on incoming manager Frank Lampard's plans, with the Derby County boss expected to be appointed imminently.

Blackburn to bring in Gallagher

Blackburn Rovers are 'in talks' with Southampton regarding the permanent signing of striker Sam Gallagher.

Other Championship clubs have also registered an interest in the former Birmingham City man, but Blackburn are leading the chase according to Sky Sports .

Gallagher has struggled at Saints, spending time on loan at MK Dons, Blackburn and Birmingham.
