Manchester United 'contact Christian Eriksen' over transfer talks as Paul Pogba replacement

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Christian Eriksen's representatives over a transfer this summer.

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, United have opened fresh talks with Tottenham and the player as a potential Paul Pogba replacement.

Pogba could yet leave United this summer and Eriksen has stated his desire to move on from Spurs, with the Reds heavily linked. The Dane has just a year remaining on his current contract with Mauricio Pochettino's side. Eriksen came on as a substitute in the sides recent pre-season friendly in Shanghai, which United won 2-1.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid are "increasingly confident" they can secure the signing of Pogba, despite so far seeing their pursuit of the Frenchman go by with little success. United are adamant that Pogba will remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline but according to ESPN Real believe they can still reach an agreement.

It comes as Gareth Bale appears close to a move to the Chinese Super League, while James Rodriguez and Isco are also reportedly surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Finally, it has been claimed by reports in Italy that United's proposed deal for Bruno Fernandes has been agreed, for a fee of £63million.

According to Corriere dello Sport, an agreement has been reached and Fernandes is set for a medical.
