Manchester United considering Moussa Dembele move before transfer deadline day

Manchester United are still considering a move for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window and remain in contact with the player's representatives.

Erik ten Hag is desperate to add some extra firepower to his forward line before deadline day on September 1, with the French forward still being considered for a possible late swoop.

The Manchester Evening News revealed back in March that United were looking at Dembele ahead of the summer window and it is understood they are still looking at the 26-year-old as a potential addition.

Dembele only has one-year left on his current deal at Lyon, and many clubs are already positioning themselves for a free transfer next summer in case the forward runs down his time at the Ligue 1 club.

It is understood the French forward has already rejected an offer from Everton this summer, while La Liga side Villarreal are also keen on a deal but have been unable to convince him to join.

Sources close to the player have reiterated that Dembele will not move for the sake of it and that he will only do so for the 'right club' on the right terms.

Lyon recruitment manager Bruno Cheyrou has already offered an ultimatum to players in their final year at the club, telling those soon to be out-of-contract players that they must agree to new terms or risk being sold this summer.

Dembele netted 22 goals in 36 appearances for Lyon last season, but his place in the team has been thrown into doubt after former Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette re-joined the club this summer.
