Manchester United confirm final pre season friendly fixture

Manchester United have confirmed they will play Preston North End in a pre-season friendly later this month.

Preston will host United on Saturday, July 31 at 2pm three days after United face Brentford at Old Trafford on July 28.

United's final pre-season friendly against Everton on Saturday, August 7 has also moved to a 12.45pm kick-off time.

The Manchester Evening News reported last week United had eyed a friendly with Championship side Preston to fill a gap in their pre-season schedule.

United had held talks about travelling to Malta to play a pre-season game in early August but those plans have been scrapped.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side start their pre-season schedule at Derby County on Sunday before travelling to Queens Park Rangers on July 24. Brentford and Everton visit United either side of the Preston game.

The United squad will set up base for a week-long training camp at a luxury five-star hotel in Surrey between matches with Derby and QPR.

United are also expected to travel to St Andrews in Scotland for training.
