Manchester United confirm Carabao Cup semi-final dates vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United will play both Carabao Cup semi-final legs against Nottingham Forest a week apart at the end of this month and going into February.

United booked their place in the last four of the competition thanks to a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night courtesy of a strike from Antony and a late double from Marcus Rashford.

It’s the fourth time in seven seasons that the club have made it to the last four of the League Cup, having last won it in 2017. Erik ten Hag’s men already have a packed schedule and their progression through the semi-finals means they will have played nine matches in the first 32 days of 2023.

The EFL have confirmed that the first leg against Forest at the City Ground will take place on Wednesday, January 25 at 8pm before the return leg at Old Trafford is staged on Wednesday, February 1, also at 8pm.

The first leg takes place three days after United’s Premier League trip to the Emirates to take on Arsenal and four days before their FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Reading. The second leg comes four days afterwards and three days before the visit of Crystal Palace.

The final takes place at Wembley on Sunday, February 26 with all ties being shown live on Sky Sports. Newcastle face Southampton, who defeated Manchester City in the last round, in the other semi-final.

United beat Forest in their first Premier League game back after the World Cup, running out 3-0 winners after Rashford, Casemiro and Fred found the net.

Forest qualified for the semi-finals after beating Wolves in a penalty shoot-out, in which United loanee Dean Henderson saved the decisive spot-kick. The goalkeeper will not play in the semi-final though after his parent club chose not to allow him to feature against them.
