Manchester United confirm Alex Telles has tested positive for coronavirus

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Alex Telles is currently missing for Manchester United because he recently tested positive for coronavirus.

The Brazilian left-back was absent from United's matchday squad against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night having also missed the weekend draw with Chelsea.

Telles has made one appearance for United since signing from FC Porto in the summer transfer window, with his only outing coming against Paris Saint-Germain last week.

However, despite an encouraging debut performance he has seen his start to life at Old Trafford halted by his positive test.

United manager Solskjaer did not confirm when Telles tested positive for the virus but confirmed the player is asymptomatic.

"Yeah he's been out now for a little while because he has tested positive for coronavirus," Solskjaer told MUTV when asked about Telles' absence against Leipzig. "No symptoms, he's fine and we can't wait to have him back."

Telles, 27, signed a four-year contract with the option of a further year at United in the summer transfer window after agreeing a deadline day move from Porto.
