Manchester United coach Neil Wood was impressed by summer signing Facundo Pellistri after the youngster made his first appearance for the club at youth level.
United signed the 18-year-old winger from Penarol on transfer deadline day as they accelerated plans to bring him to Old Trafford having scouted him extensively for a number of years.
Despite his relative inexperience United primarily plan to use Pellistri in the first-team squad but acknowledge he will need time to settle in England first.
Pellistri gained valuable experience as he was named in the match day squad against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek before putting on the shirt for himself at U23s level on Friday night.
The Uruguayan teenager played the entirety of United's 2-1 win over Everton in the Premier League 2 as he was roughed up against physical opposition.
Taking to social media after the match Pellistri wrote: "Happy for my first 90 minutes with Manchester United U23s," and U23s manager Wood was also happy with the youngster's first outing against tough opponents.
“It was 'welcome to England!'” Wood told MUTV after the match. “But it was great for him to get 90 minutes on the pitch and a first taste of English football. I'm sure he can build from this experience.”
Pellistri enjoyed some exciting link-up play with fellow youngster Brandon Williams on the right wing and speaking after the game Williams gave his verdict on United's latest youth recruit.
Williams said: "Facundo's done very well since coming in. He doesn't speak that much English but he's learning. He'll kick on from this and I'll be here to help him if I can. I enjoyed playing with him.“
