Manchester United closing in on Jadon Sancho transfer

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Jadon Sancho, with sources close to the player expecting the deal to be completed within the next two weeks.

Sancho, 21, has agreed personal terms in principle and an up-front fee of €85m (£73m) has been settled on, with Borussia Dortmund attempting to extract up to €15m in add-ons.

Discussions are ongoing about the structure of the payments and the majority of the add-ons have been described as 'achievable'. Dortmund are also believed to have insisted on add-ons depending on United possibly winning the Champions League.

Manchester City will receive 15% of the Sancho fee owing to a sell-on clause they negotiated as part of his £8m move to Dortmund in 2017.

The MEN reported last week Sancho expects to join United this summer and the club submitted their second offer at the weekend, which was officially recognised by Dortmund this week.

Sancho's salary was a stumbling block during negotiations last year but United resolved his personal terms swiftly in order to settle on a breakdown of his fee with Dortmund.

Sancho has been pushing his agent, Emeka Obasi, to secure a transfer before next season after a move to United failed to materialise last year.

The MEN first revealed United's interest in Sancho when they attempted to sign him from City in 2017.
