Manchester United captain Harry Maguire sends message to fans after European Super League collapse

Manchester United club captain Harry Maguire has called for unity amongst supporters following the collapse of the European Super League proposals.

United confirmed their withdrawal from the newly proposed tournament along with Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal at 10.55pm on Tuesday.

The clubs followed Manchester City and Chelsea in departing the breakaway league after widespread backlash from supporters, football figures and politicians across the continent.

A United statement read: "We have listened carefully to the reaction from our fans, the UK government and other key stakeholders.

"We remain committed to working with others across the football community to come up with sustainable solutions to the long-term challenges facing the game.”

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw had all denounced the Super League in posts on social media and now captain Maguire has broken his silence in the wake of the club's withdrawal.

Taking to social media Maguire uploaded a picture from United's famous Premier League title celebrations back in 2013, along with the caption: 'Let's all stay UNITED' followed by red, white and black emojis.

His club teammate Brandon Williams also posted a similar tribute on social media with his own upload from the same victory parade eight years ago.

"To you all," he wrote followed by a clapping hands emoji. "We are ALL equal."
