Tottenham have thus far been quiet in the January transfer window but deals could be on the cards in the final days of the mid-season market.
Jose Mourinho's side have established themselves amongst the Premier League's elite so far this season, standing among the favourites to secure Champions League football after missing out last term.
In order to hit that objective, Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Christian Eriksen just 12 months after he left the club to join Inter Milan.
The Denmark international has struggled to find his feet at the San Siro and is looking for an exit this month, with Inter also keen to offload Eriksen from the squad.
However, Mourinho's plan to bring the 28-year-old back to Spurs could be ruined as Manchester United have reportedly held talks regarding a loan deal.
"It is our understanding, while he has been linked heavily with a return to Tottenham Hotspur, he has in fact been offered to Manchester United," transfer expert Ian McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast.
"It would be a loan deal until the end of the season with no option to buy as far as it goes at the moment. The deal is far from being done, mostly because Manchester United have not offered to pay a sufficient part of his ways.
"He is on €8m net per year, meaning €4m for the remainder of this season. United have offered around €1.5m with Inter paying the rest. Solskjaer is keen on the idea. He is looking for a central midfielder to assist in United's challenge for the Premier League title."
Negotiations need to continue though, with Inter looking for Eriksen's wages to be covered in full - something United are not willing to do.
Tottenham would likely have similar problems with meeting those demands though, so there is plenty left to be done to decide Eriksen's future.
