Manchester United can break a club record with win against Newcastle

The pressure is on Manchester United as they prepare for their trip to face Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday night.

After a two-week break Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be eager for his side to return to winning ways and move on from their humiliating 6-1 home defeat by Tottenham.

United know a strong performance this weekend will not only quieten their critics but is also pivotal given such a hectic fixture schedule which lies ahead.

As if the team needed any more motivation, there is also the added incentive of a place in the history books with United chasing a club record.

Although they have lost both of their home league matches this season United did manage to win away at Brighton last month as a dramatic late penalty from Bruno Fernandes secured three points in contentious circumstances.

Match preview: Newcastle v Manchester United

The league triumph at the AMEX Stadium marked United's fifth consecutive top-flight away win in which they scored more than one goal - something they have never done six times in a row.

If they manage to win at St James' Park while scoring at least two goals this weekend they will break their own impressive top-flight record and achieve something no United side has ever done before.

However, it might be easier said than done with Newcastle having won two of their last three Premier League home games against United, more than they had in their previous 13 against them.
