Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slams 'unfair' scheduling ahead of Chelsea clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken aim at the 'unfair' scheduling of Manchester United's fixtures this week.

United are in action three times this week, having drawn with Southampton on Monday, they travel to Crystal Palace on tonight night before taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Whilst Chelsea, who beat Norwich City in the only Premier League match staged on Tuesday night, will have 48 hours more rest than United ahead of this weekend.

And Solskjaer believes 48 hours is a big difference at this time in the season and that his side are going to have to put on a Poker face and play their cards well in their remaining games.

Frank Lampard on 1-0 win against Norwich: Job done

"There is a concern, obviously, that they will have had 48 hours more rest and recovery than us," the Reds boss said.

"It’s not fair. We spoke about a fair scheduling going into this restart and, of course, it isn't. But I have to think about Thursday, winning that one, focusing on that one, and then pick up the pieces after that.

"We've not really played every three days but we definitely will now. The next two weeks will be hectic but then again we’re fit, very fit - our lads have not felt as fit as this for years, I’m sure.

"There are some young lads there who will be fitter than the average Joe and quicker to recover but the way the coaches and fitness staff worked them over the lockdown and even throughout the whole season.

"It was a big thing towards the end of last season that we felt our team wasn't fit enough. We got a few injuries. This season we've not had that kind of a problem.

"It’s not going to be a problem and a concern for us but 24 hours, 48 hours is a big difference at this time so we've not been handed four Aces, to put it that way, for the last two weeks. But we’re going to have to put on a Poker face and play the cards well.

"It almost always boils down to the last couple of weeks at Man United. A couple of times you’re maybe already secure in winning the league or a safe position but it comes down to Cup finals, comes down to the last game of the season to either be a champion.

"So it’s just a great challenge for [the players] to have that feeling representing this great club and knowing that they trust us to be a part of the team going for important positions."
