Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's message for Nottingham Forest loanee

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken of his delight at James Garner’s loan move to Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder has quickly made a positive impression since signing for the Reds before January transfer deadline day.

He will spend the second half of the season at the City Ground, having been recalled early from a loan spell at Watford.

GARIBALDI RED: Who should play up front for Forest against Bournemouth?

Garner had been struggling for regular game time following a change of manager at the Hornets, but has played the full 90 minutes for Forest in their last two matches.

The teenager is rated highly by Solskjaer, and the Norwegian says he is happy to see Garner and fellow youngster Tahith Chong, who joined Club Brugge last month, getting the chance to show what they can do.

“I think we’ve done well with finding different places for players because it’s important that they go out and they get the match-time and a challenge,” Solskjaer told the club’s website, when asked about the start Garner and Chong have made to their new loans.

“With Jimmy and Tahith we thought it was right that they changed their hunting ground.”

Garner featured 21 times while at Watford, although eight of those appearances came from off the bench.

He has quickly settled in at Forest, earning praise from his teammates, boss Chris Hughton and Reds fans.
