Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he's '100 per cent' innocent after escaping FA charge

Jose Mourinho insists he is "100 percent" innocent after escaping an FA charge of using insulting or abusive language.

The Manchester United manager’s appeal was upheld this week after an independent panel found the charge unproven.

It was claimed Mourinho swore in Portuguese in front of television cameras following United’s dramatic 3-2 win against Newcastle last month.

As part of Mourinho’s defence he insisted his words weren’t intended to be insulting – and addressing the incident on Friday, he added: “You know the reason why I ask the club and lawyers to appeal was because I was 100 percent that I was not guilty of this charges. But you never know how it ends.

“Yes I’m pleased, but I know that I have to respect the process and I have to for what is going to happen next. But I only appeal if I feel I am not guilty, I don’t appeal to lose my time or others lose their time.”

The FA are waiting for official written reasons for the decision from the Independent Regulatory Commission before deciding whether to lodge an appeal.
