Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag told to target perfect Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

Manchester United have been advised to target Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as they continue their quest to find a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

After the five-time Ballon d'Or winner left Old Trafford for the second time, United signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley as a stop-gap option to compete with Anthony Martial this campaign. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane are being monitored as possible summer additions.

Either way, United are ready to prioritise the position as part of their ongoing recruitment drive under Erik ten Hag, while the Dutchman has been urged to go after Vlahovic instead. Speculation over his future at Juventus remains up in the air despite him only joining them 12 months ago.

But who will Ten Hag and United turn to when getting down to business next season?

During his promotion for Casinos En Ligne, former United defender Wes Brown said: "I like Dusan Vlahovic. I've not seen much of him, but he's a young lad and I like young players.

"Obviously, they're not the finished article, but he's been doing well at Juventus and you can see he's going to turn out to be a really good player. United need reinforcements in that area and he's a very good young talent, I'm sure he'd be a very good addition at Old Trafford."

Vlahovic was effectively signed to replace Ronaldo at Juventus when he joined them for €81.60m last January. During that time, the Serbian has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 36 games.

On average, he has netted once every 143 minutes in Serie A this season, while his record for the national side reads 10 goals from 19 appearances since making his senior debut in 2020.
