Manchester United: Benjamin Sesko completes first training session as Ruben Amorim gets double selection boost

Benjamin Sesko is in contention to make his Manchester United debut against Arsenal this weekend.

The Slovenia international has joined Man Utd from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in a deal that, reportedly, could be worth up to £73.7million in total if all performance-related add-ons are met.

Interestingly, Sesko had been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer but was unveiled to the Old Trafford faithful prior to the pre-season friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday.

The 22-year-old will now turn his attentions to working his way into Ruben Amorim’s starting line-up for Sunday’s Premier League opener against the Gunners as it’s been confirmed he should be available for selection.

There may be concerns over Sesko’s fitness and ability to play 90 minutes at the weekend because he’s not played a game since featuring as a second half substitute in Leipzig’s pre-season friendly win over Toulouse at the end of July.

With that said, the striker did look sharp in his first training session at Carrington on Sunday as preparations for the visit of Arsenal began.

In a further double selection boost for Man United, Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee were back in training with the main group following their recent absence from action.

Although both players travelled to the United States, neither took part in any of the pre-season fixtures as they used the time to work on their rehabilitation in order to be fit as soon as possible.

Of the pair, Onana is perhaps more likely to earn an immediate recall to the starting line-up on Sunday.

However, Altay Bayindir - who has deputised in the Cameroon international’s absence - did produce a fine goalkeeping display against Arsenal in last season’s FA Cup third round penalty shootout win.
