Manchester United beat Liverpool FC to top all-time league attendance chart

More than 94 million people have been through Manchester United ’s turnstiles to watch league football - far more than any other club.

It’s been 132 years since the first Football League season kicked off in 1888.

An average of 4,639 people went to each league match in that first season according to figures from european-football-statistics.co.uk.

By the end of the campaign, a combined total of 612,370 people had walked through the turnstiles.

Everton had the highest total attendance for their home games that season at 79,860, an average of 7,260 per game.

Fast forward to the present day and the top four divisions of English football have had a cumulative attendance of a massive 2.4 billion people.

And it's United who can claim the status of best-supported club of all-time in English football with 94.1 million people having attended their home games.

Liverpool are next with 80.7m followed by Arsenal with 80.5m, Newcastle with 76.2m, Everton with 74.7m and Manchester City with 71.6m.
