Manchester United 'battling Man City and Liverpool' for Russian wonderkid

Manchester United are in a race with Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham Hotspur to sign Russian youngster Fedor Chalov, according to reports.

The 21-year-old forward finished as the Russian Premier League's top goal-scorer last season with 15 goals and according to the Mirror is attracting interest from the Premier League's big hitters.

Chalov has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco and Sevilla and has a £20million valuation, so says the report. He can play as a main striker or in a slightly deeper role behind the striker.

United could be in the market for a centre forward if departs for Inter Milan, with the Belgian interested in a switch to Serie A.

Elsewhere, Harry Maguire has reportedly told Leicester City colleagues that he wants to leave, amid interest from Manchester United.

Several news outlets including the Daily Mail report that Maguire has made his intentions clear during a pre-season training trip to France, after a £70million bid from United was rejected.

MEN Sport understands United have submitted one bid for Maguire, which has been rejected, and view the Englishman as a solution to a position which has been a problem at Old Trafford for some time.

Finally, it has been claimed that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is "struggling to convince" executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to spend more than £50million for Sporting CP playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha report that Woodward and the United board are reluctant to sanction such a large bid for a player who has never featured in the Champions League.
