Manchester United awards bash OG as Geoffrey Boycott slates Ole Gunnar Solskjaer live

Manchester United's end of season awards bash appeared to be going the same way as their season when celebrity fan Geoffrey Boycott scored a massive own goal live on the club's TV channel.

United players and management are 'celebrating' the end of the season at their annual event at Old Trafford.

But Boycott put his foot in it when he took a swipe at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as his underperforming players when the live MUTV cameras turned their attention to him.

Former fans' favourite Solskjaer has seen early promise fade away with a series of underwhelming result to end the season outside the Premier League top four.

Cricket legend Boycott couldn't resist taking aim at United's players and suggested Solskjaer is not up to the job - despite being in the same room.

Asked what United means to him, he said: "Disappointment more than anything... Somehow it’s kinda faded away towards the end.

"The football hasn’t been inspiring, if anything they’ve let themselves down and the people who support Man United.

"It’s not just the results but some of the football has been hard to watch."

On Solskjaer, he added: "He doesn’t have a record of experience does he? He had a short time at Cardiff.

"He looked after a team in his own country but it’s not the Premier League.
