Manchester United are a simple tactical tweak away from getting the best out of Jadon Sancho

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has undoubtedly improved Manchester United's squad since taking the reins at Old Trafford, yet the Norwegian tactician still doesn't have a trophy to show for all of his hard work.

Solskjaer has left himself no room for excuses after a sensational summer transfer window that saw the likes of Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho join the United dressing room.

The latter of the three marquee arrivals has found it difficult to hit the ground running since joining from German outfit Borussia Dortmund. However, is that entirely his fault?

Solskjaer has been criticised for his handling of Sancho since his £73 million move to Old Trafford, with the England international occasionally shoved out to the left-hand side despite being brought in to bolster United's options on the right.

Fans are already beginning to debate how United can get the best out of Sancho, but to me, it seems incredibly simple: give him regular game time in the position he was bought to play in and we'll see the best of him sooner than if he's played in a different position every other game. That doesn't sound too hard, does it?

Marcus Rashford is edging closer to being available for selection and it’s expected he'll return to his position on the left of the frontline, meaning Sancho is unlikely to cement his place on the left.

It must be pointed out that Sancho also had a slow start to last season with Dortmund and yet still managed to score 16 goals and bag 20 assists in all competitions.

It’s clear how much Sancho can offer United and his slow start to life under Solskjaer won't define his Old Trafford career. The tricky winger will need time to adjust to the differences between the Bundesliga and the Premier League, not to mention settling back into life in England having spent four years away.

However, what is not helping his progress, or the team's progress for that matter, is the constant switching from left to right. It's almost as though he was brought in on a free transfer as a squad player who's just there to fill gaps when needed.

Solskjaer needs to show Sancho that he trusts him, and the first step towards him gaining that trust is allowing him time to flourish in the position he was brought in to fill.
