Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for big boost ahead of Spurs clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful that Manchester United will be able to welcome back at least one midfielder for the visit of Tottenham on Wednesday.

The Red Devils have been hit by injury problems in recent weeks, with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba both sidelined along with long-term absentees Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot.

Marcos Rojo and Nemanja Matic also both missed the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa today (Sunday).

However, Solskjaer has said that it is possible that at least one of McTominay or Pogba could be back for the game against Spurs as Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford.

Speaking at his post-match press conference this afternoon, Solskjaer said: "We have still got two days and we need to look at everyone.

"We have only got two days, so let's see, but, hopefully, we can see one of them (McTominay or Pogba) on the pitch. They are working hard behind the scenes."

Solskjaer has previously hinted that McTominay, who injured his ankle in the victory against Brighton & Hove Albion last month, was closer to returning, while Pogba has been out with an ankle injury since September, with his last appearance coming against Arsenal in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
