Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get massive injury boost ahead of Arsenal trip

2020 is still over a week away, but there's already one eye on the Arsenal vs Manchester United clash.

The two rivals meet at the Emirates Stadium on New Year's Day in the reverse Premier League encounter from the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

United took the lead in that game thanks to a deflected strike from Scott McTominay before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised thanks to the intervention of VAR in the second half.

Neither side has built on from that point, although the Red Devils are in a better position in the table and will go into the game ahead of Arsenal provided they win their games over the festive period.

And there's great news for United 10 days before visiting the Emirates.

Paul Pogba will be in contention to make his first Premier League appearance since the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the end of September.

The France international has missed the last 17 United games across all competitions, but was named on the bench for the game against Watford at Vicarage Road.

He could feature against the Hornets and would then have fixtures against Newcastle United as well as Burnley over the festive period to prove his fitness before the game against the Gunners.

Barring any setbacks, Pogba is likely to be in the squad to face Arsenal and that will be a massive boost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have lacked creativity especially in the middle of the park during the 26-year-old's absence and having the midfielder with two assists to his name this season can only be a positive for the Norwegian.

In addition, the Red Devils have a great record against their 'big six' rivals.

They have already beaten Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City and got a point against league leaders Liverpool.
