Manchester United and Nottingham Forest fans rave over James Garner debut

Manchester United fans loved James Garner 's debut for Nottingham Forest in the win against Coventry.

Garner joined Watford in the summer but his loan spell was cut short in January with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explaining the appointment of Xisco Munoz led to United believing his development would be better served elsewhere.

He said: "Jimmy has played quite a bit lately, but when the new manager came in we felt and they felt that it was right for him to find somewhere else."

Garner joined relegation-threatened Forest and made his debut against Coventry on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old bossed the midfield, displaying his composure in possession and helping his new side come from behind to pick up a vital three points. His debut was recognised with the man of the match award.

Manager Chris Hughton heaped praise on the midfielder's performance which left United and Forest fans seriously impressed.

Houghton said of Garner's showing: "I'm really pleased. I think for for a young lad of 19, he showed maturity.

"Probably what he did show was that this is a lad that's that's played the first half of the season at a team that's in the top six in the division. He has played and been involved in 17 or 18 games and he's had 11 starts.

"I am pleased for him. And I thought his contribution was really good."
